Most buckers rely on stripping force — pulling branches through fixed openings using driven rollers. This method removes buds violently, often breaking larger flower into smaller pieces and creating hidden damage.

Shearline bucking systems use cutting, not stripping. The operator guides each branch base-first into an elongated slot and uses a light clockwise-and-counterclockwise motion as a high-speed M2 tool-steel blade progressively cuts the stalk beneath the stainless face plate. That rotating feed lets angled side branches move naturally through the open length of the slot instead of being forced against the edge of a round stripping hole. Proper technique requires very little downward force, helping preserve large flowers instead of compressing or tearing them. As the flower releases, it slides into the collection tray while the remaining stalk is simultaneously reduced into small pieces and collected separately below the machine. A small stem stub can be left on a valuable large bud rather than forcing the bud into the bucker; the Shearline Original trimmer removes those small protruding stems during the trimming pass.

Branches are separated cleanly, allowing buds to release naturally without tearing, compression, or accumulation stress. This preserves bud size, structure, and consistency before trimming begins.
